Torched Painted Copper Panels
Torch painted copper panels may be hung on the wall just like a framed painting . These are pure copper sheets and all the colors and imagry on the copper is achieved using metal brushes and torches. Standard sizes are10"x16"and 22"x34" though a single piece may be as large as 10ft.x3ft. Protetive bake enamel coats keep the copper bright and free of finger prints, tarnish and verdigris even if outside.
A large portion of my work with this copper technique is using them for kitchen backsplashes. It is a great way to add brilliance and beauty to your kitchen.
When versatility is the buzzword, copper on the backsplash is the grand ambassador. If you thought that its classic appeal could burnish the aura of only a rustic looking, country-styled kitchen, you would be compelled to invert your thinking when you see it weaving magic in all other contemporary spaces.
It's just not the enchanting appeal that can make your mind jump and leap with joy, but the staggering choices in copper can fire your imagination like never before. A copper back splash can be installed just like flashing on a roof, or wrap a board with the copper for added dimension. The copper is protected using several coats of a baked enamel finish with a polymer wax layer for ease of cleaning.
