Slate Paintings
Orchid Slates
This is hand painted using pure pigment India inks on copper plate. I chose to paint the orchid family because of their dynamic structure and variable color schemes. The slate frames are salvaged roof tiles from a south Alabama church constructed around 1910. When the structure had to be taken down I was able to salvage the original slates to use in my art. As showcased in Southern Living Magazine, their durable nature makes them ideal for patio, bath and kitchen areas. The copper painting is baked in clear epoxy enamel to protect from patina and mechanically fastened to the antique slate frame. Each is 10"x10" and hangs on your wall with a single nail.
